After a couple of weeks in Hanoi, I was itching to get back on the road to explore something new.
Read MoreHanoi has been the most surprising aspect of my trip. I never had any of intentions of staying in one place for too long as I wanted to see as much of SE Asia as I could.
Read MoreI had no intention of going to Phong Nha but, it ended up being my favorite part of my journey North. Funny how that happens isn’t it?
Read MoreOne of the great parts of traveling is meeting people who end up, consciously or unconsciously, sharing a piece of wisdom with me that ends up altering my life.
Read MoreWhen I first arrived in Vietnam, it was smack dab in the middle of Ho Chi Minh. I had just left my love bubble in Siem Reap and was riding high on Cambodia’s energy.
Read MoreI’ve been traveling for about 3 weeks now. Thus far, it’s been more than I expected, harder than I prepared for and more rewarding than I could have imagined. One week into my trip I made a decision—I’m staying longer than I originally thought. My original plan was to travel for four months. I’m now going to try to travel for 7 months, money willing. I knew the moment I got to Cambodia, I needed more time. Being on my own and seeing new countries is pretty cool but, the traveling I’m doing inside of myself is why I am extending my trip. I’ll explain...
Read MoreI have been anticipating going to Ankor Wat since I started planning this trip. It’s probably the most iconic religious site in SE Asia and from all it’s pictures looked epic. I got into Siem Reap on Thursday night, after a 12 hour bus ride (very long but, pretty comfy) and immediately made plans with my tuk tuk driver to see Ankor Wat the next morning.
Read MoreEveryone, since I got to Cambodia, has been telling me to go to the islands on the coast of Sihanoukville. I researched and the islands looked beautiful! There is snorkeling to do and beautiful beaches. And you know what? I had zero interest in going.
Read MoreOh man. I have spent the last 6 days in the South East of Cambodia in Sihanoukville and it’s been incredible. Sihanoukville is the beach! And what a beach it is.
Read MoreHumans, I failed. I learned a big lesson from it though so, that’s what matters. What I learned is properly researching sites/destinations is very important to avoid potentially unethical practices. I’ll explain...
Read MoreOn Tuesday, Paul my tuk driver/guide, took me to the Toul Sleng museum and The Killing Fields. Both were heavy but, so important to visit and understand the dark history of Cambodia.
Read MoreAs I mentioned in my previous post, I went to bed Monday night at 8:30pm. I was too exhausted to try and stay up later and I gave in to an early bed time. My concern was I would wake up at 3am and be ready to start the day and would then continue a weird sleep cycle. But, when you haven’t slept in 35 hours, reason quickly gets chucked out the window for sleep.
Read MoreWell, I made it to Cambodia. I arrived in Phnom Penh at 1:05pm Monday afternoon, about 4 hours behind schedule. My flying experience was incredible, albeit very long (it was 35 hours or so), because of Singapore Airlines.
Read MoreAs I get ready to leave on Saturday for my four month adventure (!), I've been reflecting on my journey in New York. One of my favorite things about this city is when I'm walking down a street, see a certain stoop, corner or spot, I am instantly transported back to a past version of me.
Read MoreHappy full moon in Aires friends! This is my moon and I have been feeling it lately. Have you? What first started bubbling up for me was anger. When I get energy work done they always tell me I am holding on to a lot of anger and I used to think they were full of shit. After this summer and the intensity of the moons/eclipses, I know they are right.
Read MoreI have run my whole life but, never considered myself a runner until recently. I've been running since I was 12 when, my then Step Dad told me I was fat and needed to lose weight. I wasn't fat but, the insensitive comment sent me down the "eating disorder" spiral for a long, long time. It also got me obsessed with work outs that would make me skinny. Running and yoga seemed to fit the bill. And so my journey with with working out began.
Read MoreHave you ever been a situation not serving you and you stayed anyway? Me too. Actually, I have spent far too long in most situations that don't serve me. I have stayed mostly out of fear and lack of feeling worthy of more. I was fearful to walk away and close a door because what if another door never opened?! I would stay and stay and stay, camped out at a door half open and beg for scraps. And the thing about scraps is you can survive on them. So, I would stay longer because I was being fed something. Never mind that I felt miserable, low, sad or half crazy. I was surviving.
